GeoBee Challenge
- GeoBee Challenge
(iPhone, iPad)
GeoBee Challenge by National Geographic is one of our favourite geography apps. It is not an app for beginners and even though the app is aimed at kids age 9 to 13 some of the tests could be really challenging even for the geography enthusiasts. Kids can use it as an assessment tool used to test their knowledge of world geography and to identify locations on a world map. The only critique is that during our review the app stopped unexpectedly twice and needs an update that will remove discontinued features like Open Feint. The app may inspire children to compete in the real life competition and has received a 4 star EAS Certification.

Geo Touch: Learn Geography
- Geo Touch: Learn Geography
(iPhone, iPad)
Geo Touch: Learn Geography app takes a kinesthetic approach to app learning, players place countries into a map like pieces in a puzzle. Geo Touch is good for learning the countries of the world, but doesn’t have every single country in the world. The quizzes reinforce the new and old info as they are cumulative. The app also allows you to learn capitals and flags of various countries.
The way it teaches is well done too. It gives you four countries per round, next round four more, and so on. If you make a mistake you are “penalized” by removing the correct countries off the map and you have to earn your way back. It gives you the repetition you need to retain the information.

There are multiple game modes, such as Battle Royale Countries, Classic Mode, Battle Royale Distance, and more. While GeoGuessr isn’t as education-focused as the other apps featured in this article, it will still help you to train your geographic knowledge, as items in the images such as mountains could help you place where a specific image must have been taken.
