If you’re looking for apps like Netflix, you’ll be happy to know that there are lots to choose from. The top ten streaming services to check out are listed below.

Top 10 Apps like Netflix to Watch Movies and Series
Here’s a list of 10 apps like Netflix.

  1. Amazon Prime Video

It’s probably safe to say that Amazon Prime Video is currently the finest Netflix alternative. It functions similarly to Netflix, allowing you to browse its vast library of movies and TV series. Some titles, such as Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, are only available on Amazon Prime Video. If you’re looking for new shows to watch, Amazon’s video streaming site is due to release more original series, so it’s worth checking out.

The Amazon Prime subscription already includes access to Prime Video. If you’re already a member, this may be the ideal alternative for you because you won’t have to pay anything. However, you can utilise it as a stand-alone service for $8.99 per month.

  1. Hulu

Hulu, like Netflix, is one of the most popular apps. Hulu is popular because it offers a unique blend of old and current television shows, such as Seinfeld and The Simpsons. Hulu should be at the top of your list if you wish to travel back in time and relive your childhood memories. Another significant advantage is that Hulu releases new episodes far more quickly than other streaming platforms. For example, a new episode will likely be released to the site just a day or two after it airs on television. Netflix, as you may know, prefers to wait until the end of a season before uploading all episodes.

Hulu is only available in the United States and Japan right now, so keep that in mind. Although the starting package is only $5.99, you will be subjected to advertisements. Upgrade to their $11.99 per month subscription if you want an ad-free viewing experience.

  1. HBO Max

There’s a lot of content on HBO Max. It’s not unreasonable to believe that if you choose HBO’s video streaming platform, you won’t be disappointed. If you enjoy HBO series, signing up for this streaming subscription is a no-brainer. Popular films such as Chernobyl, Game of Thrones, and Westworld are expected to be shown. You can also watch classic HBO shows such as The Sopranos.

What’s even better is that HBO Max isn’t only for HBO series. Popular sitcoms such as The Big Bang Theory, Friends, and Pretty Little Liars are also available. Shows from WarnerMedia’s other TV networks, such as Cartoon Network, CNN, TNT, and TBS, can also be streamed. HBO Max will cost $14.99 per month. When you consider the prices of the other services on this list, that’s a lot of money. However, given the size of its content library, the price may be justified.

  1. CBS All Access

Are you a CBS fan who can’t get enough of the network’s shows? If that’s the case, CBS All Access could be the ideal Netflix substitute for you. In terms of material volume, it can’t compete with Netflix, but what matters is whether you enjoy the episodes accessible on the platform. The Big Bang Theory, NCIS, and Young Sheldon are among the most popular CBS shows accessible on demand.

CBS All Access has recently moved into original programming, with The Twilight Zone being their most well-received exclusive offering. In addition, live sports feeds and local news coverage are available. This video streaming service is now accessible in the United States and Canada for $5.99 per month. To get rid of commercials, you’ll have to pay $9.99 for their more expensive plan.

  1. Crackle

Wouldn’t it be great if there were apps like Netflix that allowed you to watch whatever you wanted without having to pay for it? That’s Crackle for you, oh wait. By providing a completely free platform, Sony has transformed video streaming. Of course, there will be some drawbacks, such as advertisements interrupting your favourite shows and movies.

Crackle just has a few hundred films and episodes available right now, but they’re not awful. Starship Troopers, Ace Ventura, and About Last Night are among the cult favourites available. Crackle might be the free Netflix alternative you’ve been looking for if you don’t mind going through a lot of advertising.

  1. Acorn TV

Have you ever wished that TV series from other nations were more simply accessible? This difficulty is solved by Acorn TV, which provides a video streaming platform featuring classic and new programmes from Australia, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, among other places. While most of the titles are unfamiliar, they are certainly worth watching.

Acorn TV allows you to stream movies in addition to TV series, but your options are limited. The service is now only available in the United States and Canada, and it costs $5.99.

  1. Tubi TV

Another free app similar to Netflix is this one. Tubi TV is an ad-supported streaming site, thus the viewing experience isn’t ideal. However, given that it is available for free, there should be no complaints.

The downside is that you won’t find the most recent or popular titles on Tubi TV. Nonetheless, there is more than enough content to watch as many times as you desire. It’s partnered with some of the industry’s biggest studios, like MGM, Lionsgate, and Paramount, so you should be able to locate famous movies that catch your interest. There’s also a section called “Not on Netflix” where you may find movies and TV shows that aren’t accessible on Netflix.

  1. Mubi

Mubi is a one-of-a-kind app similar to Netflix. There are just 30 titles available each day, so don’t expect to see a lot of content. But there’s a catch: every title you’ll see is a classic or award-winning film, including foreign flicks. Every day, a new film is added to the list, while another gets removed. Although their constantly changing selection of content may not appeal to everyone, Mubi compensates by offering some of the best movies available for streaming online.

Mubi’s monthly subscription is $10.99. If you run out of movies before your subscription expires, you can rent them for $2.99 to $5.99 each.

  1. Disney Plus

Disney Plus can be compared to Netflix for youngsters. If you want to provide your children with a platform through which they can watch their favourite Disney cartoons and movies on demand, this video streaming service is a fantastic alternative. And, as you may know, Disney produces some of the most enjoyable family films, so if your family enjoys bonding over a good movie, consider using this platform. Remember that Disney is also the studio behind popular franchises like Star Wars, Pixar, and Marvel.

The monthly fee of Disney Plus is merely $6.99. If you want to save even more money, you may opt for a $69.99 annual subscription.

  1. Fandor

Are you a self-professed movie aficionado? Fandor would be perfect for you. This movie streaming site has over 4,000 independent and foreign films that are hard to come by elsewhere. If you’re sick of mainstream programming, Fandor will be a breath of fresh air. Its search filters make it simple to identify films that interest you, allowing you to choose what movie to watch based on the country of production.

It’s clear that Fandor isn’t for everyone. This platform would be uninteresting to mainstream movie fans. However, if you enjoy classic and indie films, Fandor is a must-try. The cost of a monthly subscription is $5.99.

Conclusion
As you can see, there are numerous Netflix-like apps available. It’s simply a matter of determining the type of content they provide and the cost of their monthly service. While some of these streaming sites are free, you must accept that advertisements will appear while you watch. Others have a limited material library, but they usually target a specific demographic. The good thing is that they all offer free trials, so take advantage of them and determine which one best suits your needs.

Netflix has become a household name all over the world, and for good reason. Many a meme has been made, and millennials have coined the phrase “Netflix and chill” to describe what a lot of couples see as the perfect date. Netflix is one of the largest internet companies in the world. Not only is it home to thousands of television shows and feature films uploaded per year, but it has seen major success in its branch for original content as well. Original series like Stranger Things, Black Mirror, House of Cards, and Orange is the New Black have won numerous awards including BAFTAS, Screen Actor’s Guild awards, and Emmys. Netflix has content in every genre that you can think of, and a variety of content for children as well.

Making a Netflix account is simple. Start by choosing the plan you want from the three available: basic, standard, and premium. Each of the plans has their own advantages, the biggest being the number of screens available to be watched at the same time per plan. With the basic membership you can only have one, standard comes with two, and premium, six. Basic does not come with an HD option which can be frustrating since Netflix auto-adjusts resolution depending on the device that you’re watching on and your internet speed. With all three plans, you can watch on TV, phone, tablet, and computer; all the titles on the platform are available to you. A topic of discussion recently has been the pricing per plan. In the last few years with the increase in Netflix originals, prices for the plans have increased. Fortunately, if you have never had Netflix before, the service does offer a 30-day free trial. Even after continuing with a plan, you can cancel anytime without any fees.

After you’ve created your account, you have a huge selection of titles to choose from. Start by choosing either the television shows or movies tab, and then tap on the genre drop-down menu. Television shows have 22 genres and movies have 20,all in alphabetical order and ranging from anime to documentaries, to mysteries and stand-up comedy and thrillers.

Tap on a title and you’ll see a brief synopsis, along with the names of the director and cast, rating, and run time. A cool feature that Netflix has is that it remembers what you watch. If you’re unsure about watching something new, it gives you a rating of whether or not the title will be a good match. From here, you can add to ‘My List’ to watch later, rate the title after you’ve finished it, and even download it for offline viewing! To download, just tap the arrow icon and a progress wheel will let you know how far along the download is. Then, from the options menu at the top left, tap ‘My Downloads’ for easy access. To remove items from your downloads, just press and hold the thumbnail. If you’d like to skip the guesswork of finding a show and hoping that it’s available for download, there’s a spot for all of the applicable titles in the left hand menu.

Strangely enough, ‘My List’ isn’t available in any menu. To access it, you’ll just have to scroll down the page until the sliding menu appears. Fortunately, it’s usually the third or fourth menu from the top.

Another handy function is the ability to cast from the Android device to a smart TV or console.

Where can you run this program?
Netflix is available on a wide variety of devices and platforms including PC web browsers and apps on Android and iOS mobile phones and tablets, smart televisions, Blu-Ray players, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the Wii U.

Is there a better alternative?
Whether these alternatives are better depends on the user. There are many other popular streaming platforms like Hulu and HBO Go, and they all have their advantages. Netflix, Hulu, and HBO Go all have platform-specific titles, e.g. you can only watch Game of Thrones on HBO Go. Hulu has a larger variety of television shows; they are usually added to the service immediately after airing live. HBO Go has a number of movies, which are more critically acclaimed than the other two media-services providers. The one thing that Netflix has that keeps it at the top is the fact that it has no commercials. Just this feature alone is critical to many viewers. Netflix also adds full seasons of television shows in one sweep, so that you can binge on your favorite series.

Our take
Netflix is a media giant, and it does not look like the platform will be slowing down any time soon. It boasts a ton of heavy-hitting original content, and prices at the moment are not too steep. This platform will always be a household name.

Should you download it?
Yes. Go download Netflix for all of your devices. In terms of the original content, pricing, and ability to download offline content, the service can do no wrong. Playback speeds on Android are decent, and the download speed does need a little work, at about two minutes per episode and five minutes per movie on average. The only area that needs to change is Netflix’s tendency to remove and cancel incredibly popular shows after only a season or two. Shows usually do very well and it always comes as a shock to audiences – remember Sense8? Die-hard fans of the show petitioned and eventually, the show added a farewell episode of sorts. Not only does Netflix cancel these shows, but they usually do not offer an explanation as to why. This is the only downfall to the service. With all that aside, Netflix is a great app to have, and the pros far outweigh the cons.
